FAQs
Do we need to attend any pre-marital courses?
No, however all celebrants must ensure that information about marriage education and counselling is made available to the couple.
What paperwork do we lodge before our wedding?
Before you can be married you will need to complete a Notice of Intended Marriage form (NOIM) no later that 1 month and 1 day prior to your Wedding. This can be lodged 18 months in advance. This may be done by fax or email, followed by the hard copy in the mail.
Are you prepared to travel for our wedding?
Yes! I predominately service the New England area, however I am more than happy to travel to your preferred location in Australia. A travel fee will apply dependent on the distance I will need to travel the availability of transport to the location of your wedding .
What if we don’t know what we want in our ceremony?
If you are unsure of what to include in your ceremony, I provide you with a comprehensive ceremony builder booklet with lots of ideas and samples for things you might want to include in your ceremony. I’m completely open to whatever ideas you would like to incorporate! I will guide you through the process and discuss how it will work so that we create a memorable ceremony that is unique and tailored to reflect you as a couple.
Can we write our own vows?
ABSOLUTELY. I encourage as much input from all my couples for their ceremony – after all it is your wedding! The Australian Marriage Act 1961 has a few legal requirements that must be said in the ceremony, but other than this, I am more than happy to incorporate your ideas, and involve whomever you want in your ceremony.
What are some rituals we can incorporate in our ceremony?
My all time favourite is a Handfasting. It is an old Celt Tradition, that can be dated back centuries. But there are many gorgeous and meaningful rituals such as:
- Sand Ceremony
- Butterfly Release
- Ring warming
There are many options and including one of these can add dimension to your ceremony.
What paperwork do we need to handle after the ceremony?
On your wedding day, I will supply you with an official Certificate of Marriage from the Australian Commonwealth Government. This certificate confirms that you legal status has changed, and that you are now married. After your wedding day, I will register your marriage with the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, the cost is included in your package.
